Precious little people would buy canned mushrooms from doubtful seller in the subway but for some reason many of them buy honey from the same sellers without thinking of consequences.

Precious little people would buy canned mushrooms from doubtful seller in the subway but for some reason many of them buy honey from the same sellers without thinking of consequences.

Modern market is oversupplied with production. Currently consumers look for products without chemical additions, unnecessary impurities and different “E”-additions. But all come to honey markets with confidence and buy there everyone and anything. And even the quality certificates don’t save the situation. However, test purchases at such markets show that only 10% of all sellers give truthful information about their product.

At the best case you will be offered to buy honey of ingredients or sort, different from the ones labeled, in worst scenario it will be cancer-causing product. At current moment there is a lot of ways of honey falsification. Let’s review some of them.

1. Honey of another sort. There is variety of honey sorts in the worlds. They depend on the region and the flowers which the pollen was collected from. Of course, every sort of honey has its peculiarities, its specific influence on the human organism, and its side effects. People react to different sorts of honey in different ways: some of them may have idiosyncrasy, allergy, or negative impact. Often the cheapest honey is claimed to be expensive one. It’s very important to know what you eat and what quantity you can eat.

2. Sugar syrup. It’s not very pleasant to pay for good product and to get sugar with water!

3. “Synthetical” honey. Such “honey” is produced in China from rice syrup and other cheap raw material. Exteriorly it is indistinguishable from the natural product.

4. Invert liquid sugar. It is chemical compound which in colour, smell and facture is 100% similar to natural honey but it is only its laboratory clone.

5. Honey with antibiotics. Of course, no one seller will say you that antibiotics are contained in the product. But they are added to let honey with high content of water (usually from tropical countries) not get fermented. As result, we receive not just useless but dangerous product! “Passive” intake of the antibiotics can cause allergic reactions, dysbacteriosis; organism becomes insensible to many antibiotics and drugs based on them.

6. Overheated honey. When the honey is being heated for more than 40-45 degree (Celsius), there chemical processes began to take place in it. These processes work towards formation of terrible carcinogen – hydroxymethyl furfural. And instead of useful product we get deferred action poison.

These are only some of ways to deceive a buyer. But the market doesn’t stay still. Unfortunately, with every new day there appear more and more honey falsifications.

We can’t buy health but to save expenditure for it is unnecessary luxury.
